Well, the reason beeing of those boxes is the idea, that users will be
able to recognize the last time of modification of the article.
There was a bug failed:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=168255
which should give you more information.
So the problem might be only the appearance of the box? Can you give an
example, where the box overlaps text?

The XSLT template needs some enhancements to ignore this information.
Not very difficult, but it has to be done in case that information
should be disappear.
