I used the first line of my commit messages (I think this is valid) and
tried to follow "Git for the lazy":
"Your first line should be a summary of the commit changes in a single
sentence. It should be 50 characters or less. It should be in present
tense: this matches up with git's merge commit messages, which you
haven't met yet, but you'll eventually run into when you hit branching
and merging."

But I do not edit the ChangeLog file any more, IMHO this produces too
many conflicts (and I have problems to resolve them).
BTW, you should no longer use the ChangeLog snippet for your commit
message. Try 'gitk' to see why.
