[Gimp-user] mosaic filter bug

on OS X verison of GIMP:

I created a doc 1200x600 px
made a background with plasma
opened the mosaic filter - in preview mode
I tweaked parameters and saw results in the filter's UI
but when I moved the 'Tile Size' slider by more than a tiny amount
the clock icon came up - with no movement on the face indicating  
number crunching - and stayed there
until I forced quit

is this a known bug?
