[Gimp-user] compiling GAP

I am on Zenwalk 5.0.  When I run ./configure, I get the follwing error message at the
end.

./configure: line 8825: ./po/POTFILES.in: No such file or directory
configure: creating ./config.status
config.status: creating Makefile
config.status: error: cannot find input file: extern_libs/Makefile.in

What's it looking for?
