did i say i was waiting for Rapha?l? i am waiting to discuss it with
Rapha?l after he has had a chance to look the current work over. he too
gets a chance to say what it is he prefers about the way it is done now
compared to the way it was done. even more of a vote than me, i guess,
as he has actually maintained a gimp web site.
but i am holding the discussion with him off until we are comparing
things. at this point, i am not even certain if Rapha?l understands
that most of the web pages located at mmmaybe.gimp.org are already auto
generated. out of respect, i wait till he catches up. or offers more
of a comparison.
you prefer that i continue the conversation before he looks it over? i
don't know what this would help.

i need the technician and the APT to deal with your enhancement needs, i
guess.
we had a discussion the other evening (carol, Helvetix, yosh). it
started with the idea of adding comment ability to the current url
memory system /admin/gimp-web-urls and it ended with an excellent
solution, imo.
my idea was to add the need for a trigger at the top of the htrw files
that tells make to use certain /admin/gimp-%attributelist%. with this
new functionality, we will be able to have the image attribute files
auto-generated, for instance. gah, it is beautiful, actually. many many
attributes might be autogenerated this way. and the others will be
easily edited, imo. and useful in other ways, as these attribute files
are valid xml files.
the only drawback that i can see, is a little time (Helv is pretty quick
once he gets the kinder to sleep) and i need to learn how to build the
site before i commit (and anyone else also).
i have volunteered to write a GIMPUserFriendly howto once the new system
goes into place.
also, i prefer to write the howto over hand-editing the splash gallery
attributes section of /admin/gimp-web-urls. i actually think that the
rewrite will take less time :)
