The little image stays there when you have JavaScript switched off,
or when your browser does not support JavaScript, or when your
browser does not support the type of JavaScript that your script
requires. It would be better to have the button rendered by a
JavaScript, one that tests for the presence of the
document.getElementById function.

Also, for some reason that script seems to break the continuance of
the left column in browsers that do not support JavaScript or have it
switched off (I tested this in a recent Opera, which has very
convenient Quick Preferences for this).

I cannot say I am happy with this. Is this design conform DRC's
original design? What does he think about this?

To me, the indentation seems to suggest a sort of hierarchical
structure. If that's the case, why not take out the menu items that
are lower in the hierarchy entirely? And if it's not the case, why
suggest it?
