i think i managed to keep linux gimp only things on my web site, with
the exception of the pygimp docs.
it is sad that windows only stuff is making it to the offical gimp web
sites.
when i look at this url:
http://docs.gimp.org/Layout/sandboxWindows.swf
i get this message:

i admit fully, i was originally very excited and glad that gimp was
going to be available on windows. i soon became very unhappy because i
thought that a great app like gimp would help to educate people about
how their computer works, like it did for me. instead, what seemed to
happen was that there became more interest in making gimp for people
with no desire to learn how their computers worked.

could we get back to providing for the people who did not pay for
windows or steal it?
the thing about linux is that when gimp is on linux it really is there
for everyone. the thing about gimp on windows is that it is not there
for everyone. only those who can afford it or who are willing to steal
it.
i am sorry about how this must sound. it is the truth though, the whole
thing about gimp on windows has gone into a direction i really really
did not want it to go. all of my effort -- unrewarded in the things
that a person uses to make a life with -- i am being told by people who
have much much much less of a contribution to the project that they do
not trust me. i see all my hours of work being frittered away on ideas
and ways for gimp to go that i had no interest in at all.
linux is free to use and is much easier to install than it was when i
got started. it would be nice if the linux software projects
would/could work like windows and only encourage things that work on
linux.
please, tell me what is wrong with my original idea! my original idea
was that if gimp worked on windows that people would be more interested
in installing linux. i think my original email defending windows-gimp
to the developer list involved my mother. she had/has a windows
computer. given every opportunity to learn things, she opts to only
learn somethings and not other things. there is better software
available for people like this.
i am very very sad. my project now has pages that i cannot read.
people who make a minimum contribution get to tell me they don't trust
me and it affects the way my life works/goes. i welcome old software
pros into the project only to have them use the time to show that women
cannot work together or something.
did i get things so wrong? i always saw humans as being able to learn
and also able to work together. what was so wrong with this idea?
real security in yourself and this world seems to show itself by the
ability to actually share. to share in a way in which everyone can use
it. this project seems to be run by people who rather reward the
minimum effort and not acknowledge real accomplishments.
like me for instance. i learned things, i thought they were cool, i
wanted others to see how easy/rewarding it was. apparently, inspite of
my great web traffic, this was completely wrong information about how
humans are.
how can we get back on track with the world i saw? did i live those 40
years in a little bubble in which only people who were able to learn
were allowed in? or is the world more like this recent little bubble i
am in where everyone is really rude unless they are being paid and
minimum efforts have big rewards of trust and such. where only the
really evil parts of copyright and open are exercised. where there is
(i guess) punishment leveled upon people who don't have their parents
or spouses parents available as a safety net?
can we not have windows only web pages? maybe someone from the windows
world can buy a computer and internet access and maintain windows only
how tos. is that a reasonable suggestion?
403 Forbidden. is it me?
and is there something wrong with linux? gimp would not exist without
it. gimp should not exist without it.
thanks for reading this if you got to the end of this letter. i myself
am surprised at how sad that page made me. it is like from all corners
i do not have access to the project i (apparently) gave up all of my
life, friends and family for. is this world really that cruel and
heartless?

roman, don't ever let anyone lock you out of your projects.
