if users do not care about the format, all the better for us. we can
care for them.

some of the time could have been spent learning about what format the
people with the web site would like.

when i contribute to freedesktop.org (i made only one little edit there)
i understand it will be a wiki format. if it had not been clear to me
what they wanted, i would have contacted the people in charge of the web
site. call me silly, but i have some respect for the people running
that web site and do not want to waste my time.

there is no mention of this flash movie here on the mail list or on the
irc or to me personally.

i am curious if there was a discussion about format before the time was
spent making these movies with Roman or if they were just delivered.
also, do you think i should be able to just deliver content to other
free/open software sites and expect that it be welcomed and used?

heck, even gtk stuff -- i spoke with the mail list and some of the
people who are active with the project before anything i did got the
gtk.org address. i guess i did something wrong....

there is gimptalk.com, the gug site also deviant art. free web sites
also. i have seen gimp resources and how tos on all of these sites.
probably, the people contributing to those sites needed to work with the
host and their format decisions. is there a record of trying to put
this information any place like that?

there was for me only the expected amount of discussion with the gtk
people when i made the planets for them. after one of them was running
for a while, one of the maintainers of the bugzilla site had some
problems and i needed to change how one of the planets worked.

some of discussion problems is at what point in the project they start.

perhaps you could suggest a better way to approach the gtk/bugzilla
people. should i just make the content and tell them they should be
glad and greatful?

if the discussion had started about this content, i think the same
message would have been expressed.

my example of respect for the people running web sites and the people in
the project -- can you explain to me the reason that so many things are
copied from gimp but not this?

thanks,

carol
