Hi folks.
As the 2.4 release is approaching, we need to get the website fixed as
soon as possible. To have an idea how much work needs to be done, I've
assembled this list sorted by importance (in my point of view). It would
be greatly appreciated if you could pick a task from the list, and reply
here that you're going to work on that so we get it done sooner.
The 2.4 website lives in its own branch:
svn+ssh://svn.gnome.org/svn/gimp-web/branches/v2.4 (replace svn+ssh with
http is you don't have write access yet).
* Release Notes: Color Management. Big one. I'd like to have a
very detailed walkthrough of the process of calibrating your
monitor and generating a profile using one of those cheap USB
colorimeters under Linux. A complete guide of how to set up your
color-correct environment in GIMP. Some pointers -
http://argyllcms.com is a linux tool that supports many of those
devices in the upcomming 0.70 release [1] (X-Rite and
Gretag-Macbeth). We should proxy the message of the tool author
- 'please let the dealer and manufacturer know that "You bought
it because Argyll CMS supports it"'. The hardware makers need to
realize that.
* Release Notes: Align Tool. We need a short description with a
few illustrative (inline) screenshots, or a screencast (much
better, the UI of the tool isn't exactly obvious).
* Release Notes: Foreground selection tool. Alexandre Prokoudine
is working on this part.
* Release Notes: Crop Tool. Reword better, add a screenshot. Maybe
both the selection and crop tools need some background info on
the design decisions for the rewrite?
* Release Notes: Healing Brush. Description + screencast.
* Release Notes: Perspective Clone. -""-
* Release Notes: Lens distortion. I'd welcome if somebody did a
better screencast.
* Release Notes: go over the NEWS file and pick some more
noteworthy features of 2.4.
* Check for links pointing to the old platform-specific download
pages and remove them. Remove the download pages too.
* Validate the links are up to date (/links/).
* Add more screenshots demonstrating actual 2.4 features (perp.
clone, healing brush...). Make them under Linux so it's obvious
what the platform of choice is :)
* Fix the imagebox script not to draw horizontal slider when image
open up (stable splash screens and screenhots pages)
* Make the site work on IE6 and lower.
All help greatly appreciated.
cheers
