And what about something like the ubuntu brainstorm ?

Everyone could be able to write his own idea, no new ideas will be
added in the comments, and partisans to an idea will be able to vote.
The developers focus on popular ideas and if the idea is not
executable the devs can give an explanation and they wouldn't have to
do it more than 1 time, because if the same idea is posted a moderator
could flag it as "duplicate".

No waste of time, and good coordination with the wishes of the users !
